HIVE PHOTOS
The ventilated eave openings in the extended top are covered with #8 mesh screen and allow ventilation across the top of the quilt box. The migratory style cover allows the hive to be wintered with its sides flat against other hives.
The quilt box, an inverted standard shallow Langstroth box, is shown filled with pine shavings and functions as a standard Warré quilt box.
The screened holes in the quilt box bottom board allows the colony to control ventilation at the top of the hive year round.
The 45° alighting ledge sheds rain and snow.
The entrance throat helps to protect the front of combs from intruders and weather.
The entrance can be reduced to the same area as the Warré hive or open to the full width and height as the Langstroth Hive as desired.
Standard frames, foundationless frames or topbars can be used as desired.
